  • What do I need to hire a vehicle?
    · All drivers must present a full valid driving licence. · All renters must produce a valid photo ID such as driving licence, passport or ID card. · A debit or credit card is required to cover the deposit and the cost of the rental. · Proof of your National Insurance Number · Proof of Address (e.g. Bank statement, utility bill)
  • Do I need insurance to rent a vehicle?
    We provide insurance for all our rental vehicles, unless agreed otherwise.
  • How old do I need to be to hire a vehicle?
    All drivers must be a minimum of 25 years old. We can allow drivers aged 21-25 for Vans & Minibuses however its subjected to a young drivers fee of £18 a day.
  • What are the driver's licence requirements for vehicle hire?
    All drivers must produce a full, valid driving licence. All renters must produce photographic ID - this can be a passport or driving licence. We do not accept any IN, DR, DD, BA, MS, MR, CD, AC, UT motoring convictions and no more than 6 points on the licence.
  • Can I hire a Vehicle with a debit card?
    Yes, we accept all major credit and debit cards. All cards must be in the main driver's name or an authorised person.
  • Where can I pick up the vehicle from?
    We have two Branches where you can pick up the vehicle from. Pontypool (South Wales) Branch - Maben Vehicle Hire, Pont-y-Felin Ind Est, Pontypool NP4 0DQ Avonmouth (Bristol) Branch - Maben Vehicle Hire, Unit 4 St Andrews Trading Estate, Third Way, Avonmouth, Bristol, BS11 9YE.
  • Can I have the vehicle delivered to me?
    Yes, we offer a delivery service which we charge per mile.
  • Can I return or collect the vehicle outside the opening hours?
    You cannot collect the vehicle outside opening hours, but you can return the vehicle out of hours at your own risk. We have a drop box to put the keys in which is located on the gates.
  • What condition will my rental Vehicle be in when I pick it up?
    Our vehicles are clean, smoke free and roadworthy. We personally inspect the vehicles on check out with you and any pre existing damages are noted and pointed out to you.
  • How is damage measured?
    To make sure you aren’t charged for damages that were not occurred by you, we inspect the vehicle on check out with you and any pre existing damages are noted and pointed out to you. If any damage occurs to the rental vehicle then please contact us.
  • Can I hire a vehicle without a deposit?
    No, a deposit is compulsory – the cost depends on the type of vehicle hired from £100. This is refundable provided the vehicle is returned in the same condition.
  • What is a damage waiver and how does it work?
    Damage Waiver protects you in the event of damage to or theft of the vehicle and lowers the amount you are liable for.
  • What happens if the vehicle breaks down or if I have an accident?
    In an event of an accident please follow all the below. Failure to do so may jeopardise your coverage under available insurance: 1. Obtain the following Date Time Location Witness details Third party name, contact details, registration and vehicle No. of passengers 2. Call us immediately on 01495 757553 3. Our Customer service representatives will then inform you of the next steps.
  • Do I need to put AD-BLUE into my hired diesel vehicle?
    We ensure all of our vehicles are topped up with an adequate level of AD-BLUE at the point of collection. If the light does come on while hiring, please fill it up as the Vehicle will not start without it.
  • What is needed to rent a vehicle?

  • What forms of payment do you accept in order to hire a vehicle?
    We accept all major credit and debit cards. We do not accept cheques or cash.
  • How much does it cost to rent a vehicle?
    This all depends on the vehicle you are wanting to hire and how long for. Please visit our website maben.co.uk to check availability and prices.
  • How much is the deposit on a Vehicle rental?
    Deposit is compulsory, the cost depends on the type of vehicle from £150. The deposit is a preauthorisation and will be released if the vehicle is returned in the same condition.
  • Are there any additional charges?
    All additional charges are within the rental agreement and the terms and conditions which are sent to you prior to hire. We also will make you aware of the charges on collection or delivery of the vehicle.
  • Do I need insurance to rent a vehicle?
    We provide insurance for all our rental vehicles, unless agreed otherwise.
  • Could I still hire a Vehicle if I forgot my driving licence?
    A valid driving licence is mandatory to rent a vehicle and must be presented at pick up time.
  • Do you supply straps when hiring a van?
    No – We will provide if requested depending on availability.
  • Is there air conditioning (AC) in every vehicle?
    No however it is available in most of our vehicles, you can request AC when booking.
  • How do I change or cancel my reservation?
    If you have already picked up your vehicle and wish to keep it longer; you must contact the branch and ask for an extension of the rental. If you need to cancel your booking, please contact the branch. If you cancel your booking less than 3 days before your collection/delivery time we will refund the full amount. If you cancel less than 48 hours we will charge a cancellation fee of £30.
  • Will I be charged if I don’t show up for my booking?
    If you do not cancel your booking before your specified collection/delivery time or do not show up, we will keep your deposit you paid when booking.
  • Can I add an additional driver to the vehicle?
    Additional drivers must meet all renter requirements. Additional drivers can be added to the rental agreement on collection, they must present their driving licence. A daily charge will apply.
  • I want to return the vehicle early; is there a penalty to do so?
    There is no penalty fee for returning the Vehicle early. You will only be charged for the days you had the vehicle. We will amend the rate to reflect the new length of rental as of the time you made your booking, this may change the daily rate applied over the length of your rental.
  • Will there be an additional charge if I am late returning the rental vehicle?
    There is a 30 minute grace period for daily rentals. If the Vehicle is returned outside of this period daily rental charges will be payable. Please Note: A vehicle that is returned after hours will not be checked in until the next business day. If returning out of hours when we are closed, you are responsible for the vehicle until the check in of the rental vehicle the next business day.
  • Do hire vehicles have unlimited mileage?
    No, vehicles are limited to 200 miles a day. We charge 4 pence per mile plus VAT for any miles over.
  • Do I need to return the vehicle with a full tank of fuel?
    You must return the vehicle with the same amount of fuel as when you collected it (the fuel level will be noted on your rental agreement when you collect your vehicle) or if you don’t return the vehicle with the same amount of fuel in, you will be charged for the remainder at the price displayed in the branch, plus an administration fee of £20.
